EmergentX’s VI transforms abstraction into function. Emerging tech is a combination of mathematical, physical, biological. The variable font reflected this with a mix of abstract forms. These transform into a functional (legible) typeface, with subtly distinctive ‘techy’ details. On the website the variable font allowed us to create memorable interactive moments of transformation in transitions and interactions, while ensuring that information became fully legible. We used colour to dramatise the transformation too, blending unexpected colour combinations to legible black and white.
