Neeraja Raj is an Indian-origin film director, writer, and animator, based in London (and grew up in Indonesia, Dubai and India), who crafts emotionally resonant films exploring identity, community, and social impact. Her films have featured in Oscar®-Qualifying festivals like Cleveland, Austin, Chicago, Sitges and more. Notably, her musical stop-motion animation film 'Meow or Never' achieved much acclaim - shortlisted for the BAFTA Awards, won the Young Director Award, and the Women in Animation Best Film Award. Recognized as one of Variety's Top 10 Animators to Watch (2022) and a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree (2023), Neeraja has also previously developed IP at Aardman Animations and Disney Animations. Currently, she's just finished working as a writer on Season 07 of the popular British animated show 'Shaun the Sheep', while simultaneously developing a coming-of-age live-action animation hybrid about first sexual experiences, an eldritch horror live-action film and a stop-motion cooking animated series. Her latest work, 'She Creates Change,' a non-profit documentary-animation film about a young Nepali girl overcoming discrimination, premiered on Warner Discovery on Women's Day 2024.
