Roshi Givechi (she/her) consults in design and narrative while nurturing her own documentary films (shorts) – all with an eye to enhance mindsets, crystalize experiences and amplify outcomes. Leaving global design firm IDEO after 19 years – where she was Partner and Executive Design Director – she focused on personal projects in her coined “creative sabbatical” in 2018 before transitioning to independent consulting.
She has loved working with founders to better articulate and design aspects of their businesses – meaningful businesses that focus on raising equity in America, teaching financial resilience to women, inspiring leaders to shift through listening (think bespoke micro-podcasts) and rekindling human connection through the design of space and experience. She designs conversations and workshops for teams to help unlock their own potential, and works with a larger set of facilitators to program conferences and guide participants through design challenges connected to UN Sustainable Development Goals – at HATCH Global summits, and at the inaugural Ocean Plastic Leadership Summit on a ship off the coast of Bermuda.
In her years at IDEO, Roshi worked across the Palo Alto, San Francisco, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo and New York studios. She channeled her global exposure to amplify creative solutions, as well as shape internal culture to inspire designers and clients alike. As a designer inspired by choreography, she loves dissecting the many parts that come together to make a greater whole—whether designing for cities, products, services, or shaping stories themselves. These experiences have given her an intimate view of the changing nature of design’s role, and what it means to envision, define and situate products and systems that bring disproportionate impact to the world.
She has an MFA from Art Center College of Design and has taught at California College of Arts in San Francisco, and Stanford University in New York.
